I love being a mentor. I have been a mentor to many over the past five years.
I can help guide your career, coach you on how ask for a pay rise or tell you when it’s time to leave a dead-end job.
I will happily praise your accomplishments but, be warned, I also provide tough love and constructive feedback.
I will share the career tips I’ve picked up along the way and keep my ear to the ground for new opportunities that might suit you.
Basically, I will be your biggest cheerleader.

If you’re a doctor, my credentials are clear and I can assist with planning future career paths and work/life balance issues. Sadly I’ve looked after many doctors professionally, and would prefer to assist doctors on a mentorship basis before psychosocial issues become mental health issues.
If you’re not a doctor, I’d probably be most useful to you if you’re a little bit older, having tried a few things, and wanting to take stock of what you’ve accomplished and what else lies in store for you.
My knowledge base is in several eclectic domains, but the fundamental unifying basis is listening. I’ll do my best to listen to what you need, and help you to hear it too. Within a mentoring paradigm I would not be your psychiatrist, but will work with the aim that both of us come away from the experience having learned something.

COACHING and MENTORING
I have coached 100’s of businesses since 2004. It is honestly as much a passion today as it was when I started. Once I realised 121 coaching was my calling I invested heavily in my own personal development by taking diplomas in NLP and coaching. I knew I needed to be the best person I could possibly be to effectively unlock my own knowledge & experiences & also to best help others. The other great (secret) benefit for me when I coach is that the learning never ever stops.
It is always a humbling experience and a true privilege to be given the opportunity to share my thoughts, experiences, ideas and messages to large groups of people from stages around the world. Part of my life’s mission is to support, serve and help as many people as I can. GRANDAD, DAD and HUSBAND
Once I understood the true value of time and more importantly, how to spend or invest it, my life changed completely. I now work hard at being the best husband, brother, father, and friend I can be every single day. Over the last few years I have had the added bonus of becoming a grandad too. As an international speaker and coach, I genuinely thought I had already stumbled upon the best job in the world; But actually, I was mistaken, being a grandad is a truly wonderful addition to my job titles.

I believe that the right people are the most important asset to any business. It is essential that the mentor and mentee are passionate about their work and want to achieve project and business objectives.
Teamwork and discipline are a necessary ingredient to achieving success, it is essential that the team leader supports team members in both work and personal related matters where possible to establish a strong bond and trust. I want to pass on my 40+ years of experience in the project management field to help less experienced project managers learn on the job and improve their skills. It is important to understand that the project is implemented to enhance the overall business and this should not be underestimated.
I can help in this area and highlight the benefits of changes that may be necessary during execution understanding the potential effects on schedule and budget and if it is beneficial to proceed with a change or maintain the approved execution methodology.

Having my own Personal Careers Advice & Guidance Service has given me extensive knowledge in how to help people with their career planning, to include any necessary education, and helping people to create their own action plans to help them achieve. I have done this for 7 years, which I believe is a lot of experience and makes me fully capable and prepared to help others in finding and achieving their own success.
However, all of my work over the last 16 years has incorporated working with people in a holistic way. Meaning that I look at the whole person and all participating factors, rather than just the perceived factor/issue.
Life is about more than just a job, hobby or a qualification. Therefore looking at everything people have to deal with in their lives, gives them a better chance of making their own success stories.
I have worked with a wide range of individuals, not only in age range ( children, young people, adults and grandparents) to people from more affluent areas, to those from more deprived areas and backgrounds. Making it very easy for me to adapt to different people and the areas of work needed to provide them with an excellent service.

If you feel like your high school education or even college didn’t equip you with “real world” knowledge for you to be successful then you’re not alone! Most of my knowledge was gained outside the classroom setting after I was already in a situation that required the knowledge to make the best decision. A lot of young adults learn things the hard way in life, not because they make the wrong decisions but because they’re not aware of the other/better options they have on the table. I’m just here to be a positive example and role model to young people and provide them with the knowledge I was able to gain through my life experiences. I hope to connect and develop a positive relationship with any potential mentee that is willing to entrust me with the responsibility of directing them down the right path. I look forward to not only helping and teaching but also learning from my future mentee as well!

With over 10 years communications experience across a wealth of industries and locations, Sara really has seen it all. Having worked on remote mine sites, in aviation, government, not-for-profits and as a consultant, her experience has led her to work on some incredible projects that are truly diverse in nature. Having worked in-depth on strategy development, PR, crisis communications, social media, major change management, internal communications, large-scale event management and writing for just about every channel imaginable – Sara has the experience to advise on all areas of communications.
A core part of her role has always been stakeholder management and influencing those she is working with – Sara believes building and maintaining relationships is key to any role or position, not just communications. Working on this skill set and learning how to understand and engage with people can see you go from simply doing well in what you do, to really excelling. Really being thrown in the deep end can be a challenge and bring great rewards – this is something Sara has done successfully, time and again throughout her career. It’s not for everyone but there are some key learnings that can be applied which help improve this process.
A quick snapshot of some of her career includes working for Air New Zealand and seeing them win and maintain corporate reputation in not only New Zealand, but also Australia; supporting a variety of clients for one of Perth’s leading consultancies, Clarity; experiencing the highs (and some lows) of FIFO life with FMG, working on a mine site in remote Western Australia, while building their internal communications strategy; and, supporting a major corporate acquisition of HWE Mining by BHP Billiton.
While it’s important to have some degree of relatability to another person’s career or role as their mentor, I believe it’s more important to have a good connection and rapport. For this reason I’m open to mentoring anyone regardless of experience, background, skill set or industry you work in.
My methods rely heavily on science. I love to introduce concepts that are bleeding edge and perhaps unconventional, but are backed by data and studies. My mentees will walk away with reassurance that little changes can make tremendous impacts, and will be able to decide for themselves which little changes to make.

Two billion dollars worth of rapid growth sustained firm-wide by processes that facilitate constant improvement. Joining ACT Mortgage’s operation when it was smaller five years ago, I began spearheading a push to build the technology infrastructure which now supports over 6,000 clients and up to 700 concurrent users on an artificial intelligence platform. Where others saw routine, I perceived opportunity to inject new ideas, try alternatives to staid strategies and innovative the solutions that lead to achievement milestones. In fact, long before I became a senior Information Technology (IT) executive, I figured out that the key to my excelling in business was my passion for learning in the information systems area – a passion that inspired me to leave my native Colombia years ago to launch my IT career in the US.
My efforts helped to triple my company’s 2006 business volume, confirming the extent to which my continuous learning had increased my effectiveness. As a former member of the Executive MBA program at the University of Miami, I embraced new ways of thinking about complex problems and discovered, while working with my professors, that I possessed an advanced ability to turn technology concepts into commercially viable processes. For instance, I used Six Sigma methodologies as a foundation to not only increase departmental and revenue-generating efficiency, but also engineer the shift from our earlier architecture to a 24/7 web-based ERP platform – readying the company to accommodate its unprecedented expansion. Thus, continuous learning had, on academic, personal and professional levels, prepared me to achieve a few milestones several years ahead of schedule.
