Dr. Brooke Moran has been helping people strengthen their leadership skills for over 20 years via such means as coaching, action learning and experiential methodologies, and presentations, as well as reflective and goal setting activities. She has done this on five continents in a range of environments, from phone calls to remote mountain glaciers, and from five-star resorts to Ivy League executive education classrooms. In whatever the environment, Brooke’s emotional intelligence allows her to earn the trust of diverse people; over the course of her career, this has included minimum-security prisoners in Australia and C-suite executives in numerous corporations. That said, Brooke’s primary clients are executives in middle-to-upper management. She has worked with executives from such companies as PwC, Microsoft, Cancer Treatment Centers of America, Schneider Electric, Hasbro, Ericsson, and Fidelity. She regularly serves as adjunct faculty at the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth College and the University of North Carolina’s Kenan-Flagler Business School.
Brooke understands that leadership development is not a one-size-fits-all endeavor. While one person may need to hone interpersonal skills, another may need strategies to “manage up”, and yet others need organizational, lateral-leadership, self-efficacy, or work-life balance guidance. Brooke is adept at striking a balance between supporting and challenging her clients, motivating them to work toward their potentials.
She studied the role of action learning / experiential education in organizational change and self-efficacy for her Master’s degree at Harvard University and doctoral work at the University of New Hampshire. Through Harvard Business School’s Executive Education program, Brooke studied corporate sustainability, about which she is very passionate and defines as a systems approach to life’s resources and decision making that attends to economics, people, and the environment, so as to thrive in perpetuity. In addition to executive leadership development, Brooke is a professor of leadership and sustainability at Western State Colorado University, where she also serves on the campus Sustainability Action Committee, having led the group to make significant strides from 2011-2016. She is also a sustainability consultant and has several publications on the subject. Brooke is currently authoring a book for Routledge that includes case studies and a model for robustly engaging employees in sustainability efforts that result in moving the needle on global sustainability challenges.
Brooke lives with her husband and son in Gunnison, Colorado; together, they ski, mountain bike, raft, hike, and travel.
