Meet in Person
I am Gabriel Ascanio. I was born in Caracas, Venezuela. I have been living in San Francisco for the past seven years. I am an experienced designer with a demonstrated history of working in the arts and crafts industry. Skilled in Program & Product Development, User Experience, Market Research, Urban Planning and Business Development. I graduated from California College of the Arts summa cum laude with a Bachelors of Architecture. I seek to activate underutilized public spaces through design and provide new opportunities for social interaction that improve public and private value. The past year I transitioned from the physical built environment into the digital world.
Prior to working for ArtSpan, I worked at FR-EE in Mexico City. I became more interested in urban activation while working as an Urban Analyst and in Business Development at Off The Grid. In my free time, I am off making candy, meditating, surfing or traveling. Traveling has become a big part of my life, which lead to starting Wing It: Last minute weekend adventure deals via Facebook Messenger.
If you are looking to transition from one field to another I am more than happy to share with you how I did it. I have learned that what you study isn’t necessarily what you will end up doing and often it is the sum of your experiences which will dictate what you are most passionate about and what you should be doing.
