Current Company: Project & Structured Finance
Current Position: Director
Experience Description: Director - Japanese Mega-Bank located in Sydney - August 2010 - Present Working with one of the most active Project Finance Banks in the market during this period, my experience has included origination, legal and credit analysis, structuring and modeling through to execution of project and structured finance deals, for a variety of deal types from Public Private Partnerships in the active Australian market to smaller club transactions in a variety of sectors including mining, social infrastructure and utilities. I am also actively involved in Portfolio Management and Value Preservation for the Bank, with a focus on workouts requiring significant reassessment, negotiation, restructuring, redeployment of capital and ongoing monitoring of problematic deals. This experience in witnessing and understanding where and why a deal can go wrong has proven invaluable when structuring new deals. Non-Executive Director - PDP (Sydney, Australia) - July 2017 - Present Non-Executive Director of PDP (Performance Design Products) – tasked with helping to establish the subsidiary of PDP LLC (North America’s largest video game accessory company) to act as the regional hub for growth in Asia and the Pacific. Senior Associate - JP Morgan (Sydney, Australia) - 2010 Interim position with JPMorgan entailing credit analysis and review over new DCM transactions. Associate - Allied Irish Banks (Sydney, Australia) 2008 - 2010 AIB was one of the leading banks in Ireland and a large active European player prior to the GFC. With balance sheet available to grow a sizeable book in Australia, my experience included corporate, leverage and structured finance in Asia - including casinos in Macau, agri-business in Japan to major project financing in Australia. On top of origination, my experience included portfolio management and workout of complex problematic deals in Australia, New Zealand and Asia. Unfortunately due to the GFC, AIB had to withdraw from the Australian market and the branch was subsequently closed. Assistant Manager - KPMG (Sydney, Australia) 2006 - 2008 Working for a leading provider of Transaction Services during the height of the pre-GFC M&A and LBO activity, mainly advising for PE firms, my near 3 year experience at KPMG included buy side and sell side due diligence and advisory for some of the largest transactions in the Australian market at the time. Operational Risk Manager - CBA (Sydney, Australia) - 2005 - 2006 In addition to ensuring CBA's compliance with SOX and Basel requirements, this diverse role within one of Australia's largest banks encapsulated the review of large distress debt transactions to understand where and how things went wrong with the initial credit analysis. From findings derived from the deal analysis, and testing undertaken on the internal controls of the bank, we were able to design a new control framework within Premium Business to address observed risks and improve efficiency. Once the structure and framework was developed, we were tasked with rolling this out across the country and monitoring and testing compliance with it by the relevant stakeholders. Accountant Ernst & Young (Sydney, Australia) 2003 - 2005 Working for the Assurance and Business Advisory Division of this global, highly regarded firm, Ernst & Young provided a solid grounding into the corporate and business advisory world. Attaining my Chartered Accountancy during my time at Ersnt & Young, I was able to apply my learnings to the audit and advisory of Australia's largest corporate customers, primarily in the technology, communications and entertainment sector. Experience at Ernst & Young also included leading the advisory engagement on process and efficiency improvements for a global technology company that design, develops and sells consumer electronics, computer software and online services as well as corporate finance experience including advisory roles in the prominent acquisition of a media publication by a leading television network in Australia.
