Experience Description: Paul FitzSimons is a writer, film producer and script consultant. His debut feature film ‘The Gift’, starring Alan Devine, Una Kavanagh and Dawn Bradfield, was released in Irish cinemas in April 2017 and will soon be available on Amazon Prime. Paul previously worked as a story-writer on the Irish TV Drama ‘Fair City’. Paul is currently developing a TV Drama with UK production company Tile Films. He is also working on feature film ‘Complicit’ with OC Productions. Paul’s debut novel ‘Burning Matches’ is represented by literary agent Ger Nichol and is currently being considered for publication. He has written a number of others screenplays for feature-length and short films and has developed a number of TV Dramas. Paul also runs the script-editing service ‘Courier Twelve’ for film and TV writers (www.couriertwelvescripts.com). His short stories are published in ‘Who Brought The Biscuits’ by The Naas Harbour Writers. Paul is a regular contributor to the writing resource website writing.ie. He also teaches creative writing and script-writing in Dublin.
I have been a film and television writer for ten years and a script consultant for five years.
I wrote and produced the feature film The Gift (15A), which was released to cinemas in April 2017 and will soon be available on Amazon Prime. I am currently commissioned to write OC Productions’s next film.
I worked as a story writer on the RTE drama ‘Fair City’ in 2012 and wrote a number of shadow episode scripts for the show.
I am currently developing a TV dramas and feature films with production companies in Ireland and the UK.
I have written a number of other screenplays for features, short films and TV.
I run a script-consultant service, offering critiquing, editing and proof-reading to feature, short-film and Television writers. I have worked with over thirty writers on over three hundred script and treatments over the past five years. I have taught screenwriting in colleges around Dublin and 1-to-1 to individual student.
I would like to mentor screenwriters at the beginning of their careers in the art and business of writing and bringing film and TV scripts to market.
Mentoring sessions are 30 minutes long and introduce the principle elements of writing and selling screenplays.
