Two billion dollars worth of rapid growth sustained firm-wide by processes that facilitate constant improvement. Joining ACT Mortgage’s operation when it was smaller five years ago, I began spearheading a push to build the technology infrastructure which now supports over 6,000 clients and up to 700 concurrent users on an artificial intelligence platform. Where others saw routine, I perceived opportunity to inject new ideas, try alternatives to staid strategies and innovative the solutions that lead to achievement milestones. In fact, long before I became a senior Information Technology (IT) executive, I figured out that the key to my excelling in business was my passion for learning in the information systems area – a passion that inspired me to leave my native Colombia years ago to launch my IT career in the US.
My efforts helped to triple my company’s 2006 business volume, confirming the extent to which my continuous learning had increased my effectiveness. As a former member of the Executive MBA program at the University of Miami, I embraced new ways of thinking about complex problems and discovered, while working with my professors, that I possessed an advanced ability to turn technology concepts into commercially viable processes. For instance, I used Six Sigma methodologies as a foundation to not only increase departmental and revenue-generating efficiency, but also engineer the shift from our earlier architecture to a 24/7 web-based ERP platform – readying the company to accommodate its unprecedented expansion. Thus, continuous learning had, on academic, personal and professional levels, prepared me to achieve a few milestones several years ahead of schedule.
